Today was a cool, stormy day, 65 degrees with flash flood warnings kind of rain. I worked all morning at school, getting ready for my new crew of hopefully adorable 4 year olds, and then went home with my own adorable 5 year old and said, "Lets get under a blanket on the couch and watch a movie." We decided on Night At the Museum.
I forgot that Robin Williams plays Teddy Roosevelt in the movie. There is a scene where he gets run over in the street and is cut in half. (He's a wax figure, so Sacajawea can use fire to melt him back together.) And there I was, snuggled up with Nina under the blanket, tears streaming down my face. Because, there was Robin Williams, broken. I wished there was some way in real life that he could have seen all the tributes over the last couple of days, and felt the outpouring of love and he could have been melted back together. Maybe all of it could have fixed him, but maybe it still wouldn't have been enough.
