Spring Cleaning
It's been a long New England winter. Lots of sitting by the fire, wrapped in a blanket, drinking tea and letting things fall apart around me.
Now that the temperature is up over 40 most days, I feel like a whole new me. I have thrown myself into spring cleaning with wild abandon. I don't remember being so enthusiastic in past springs about wanting to make all that I come in contact with clean and new again, but then I don't remember ever having a winter like the one we just had. Now, everything I look at seems to need some kind of attention. Yesterday, for example, I swept my garage, organized Nina's art supplies, put out Easter decorations, vacuumed the first floor of my house, reorganized laundry room shelves, went through piles of paperwork, raked any lawn that wasn't still covered with snow, swept my porch, picked up A LOT of dog poop, did 3 loads of laundry, threw my Christmas wreath into the woods, painted trim in my kitchen, washed and ironed the family room curtains, cleaned the dog's ears, and gave my blog a new spring makeover. I even gave my teeth an extra vigorous brushing last night.
It's amazing how a few degrees can make such a difference in one's attitude and energy level. Winter was nice, but it's time to get back to the land of the living and accomplish some things.
