Brody

Last weekend I (did something I might regret and) gave my friend's 9 year old my cell phone number. We were watching the Super Bowl- I was distracted at the time. He said something about texting me, but, turns out his true love is face timing. He calls me on a regular (daily) basis.  Our conversations go something like this:

Me: Hi!

Brody: Hi!

[he's usually wearing his baseball cap backwards, acting all cool like a big kid who facetimes...]

M: What are you doing?

B: Nothin' much. How about you?

M: Nothing, really. Just watching funny videos on YouTube with Nina.

B: Oh!! You should watch that one that says that it will definitely make you laugh. It's really funny!

M: OK. I'll look for it later. So, how's school?

B: Good.

M: Do you have homework?

B:Yeah. A little.

[Awkward pause... I wrack my brain for something to talk about....]

Me: I like the hockey picture you put on Instagram.

[I am his only follower. I had "liked" his latest Bruins picture that morning.]

B: I know.

Brody's dad (off screen): Are you bothering her again? Get off the phone! (Appears on screen) Is he bothering you? God! Look at my hair!!

M (laughing): He's not bothering me.

B: I guess I have to go. Bye.

M: Ok- bye!
