Me (on phone with nurse practitioner): My ear is still whooshing. I haven't slept in about 3 weeks. Instead of randomly throwing darts at this, could we try to find out what's causing the problem?
Nurse Adorable: Awwww- you poor thing! Sounds like it's time to bring out the big guns and see an expert! I mean, you've tried everything else and nothing's working, so that's what I'd do if I were you!
Me: OK. So.... I don't do this often- I'm not sick much. Aren't you supposed to give me the name of someone?
Nurse A: Well, I could do that. What kind of insurance plan do you have- an HMO or PPO?
Me: I'm not sure- does that matter? I just need a name and phone number.
Nurse A: Well, why don't you start with your insurance company and take it from there and then tell us where you end up going.
Me: So, I just look someone up in the phone book?
Nurse A: Sure! That's another way to go! Good luck- keep in touch and let me know how it all works out for you!
