A Jet-lag Induced Insomniac Mother's Day Post

I haven't posted anywhere about Mother's Day because I feel like social media is ruining days like this. Facebook was out of control. We are mothers- doing a job that trillions of women have done for centuries without expecting accolades, but now, it's different. Now we need to be told how amazing and wonderful we are. And share how amazing and wonderful we are. When did we get so needy? Maybe it's jet-lag induced crankiness, but it's all too much for me. And, women are the worst about this stuff- men won't be carrying on about all the wonderful things they do as dad's on Fathers Day.

Grrrrrrr.....

Anyway, I had a lovely day. Big Al hung up a bird house that he made and some little birds seem to have already taken up residence. He put up a new clothesline so I could dry my sheets outside on this perfect day. They smelled heavenly. He put the tv on the porch so I could watch the Red Sox win and get finally get above .500, while chatting on the phone with my kids. And he got me a weeping willow tree for the wet corner of the yard, even though he says they're dirty and will make mowing a pain. But I had one in my yard when I was a kid and I love the sound the wind makes when it rustles through the willows, and he loves me and wants me to be happy. Lucky me.
