Those Darn Kids!

Today I had lunch in my classroom next to a five-year-old boy who shared the entire plot of Space Buddies, a REALLY funny movie, he assured me.  It's basically about a bunch of dogs who go up into space in a rocket ship.  They wear space suits, run around on the moon.... lots of crazy things happen to them (I was half listening.)  At the end of the movie, the dogs get some kind of special award for being the first dogs to ever go up into space from the President, or something.  At that point I stopped him:
Me (incredulously)- Wait a minute.  Are you telling me that these dogs did all of this by themselves?!? There were no people in the spaceship????
Boy- Of course! They were talking dogs!!
Me- Oh.... OK!

Later on the playground another boy, running full-speed down the hill, wiped out badly.  Another teacher rushed over to see if he was OK.  He got right up and brushed himself off and we told him how brave he was, how we couldn't believe that he wasn't even crying.  And he said- Yeah, pretty much the only thing that would make me cry would be if someone cut me in half.
